1. Role Overview
L1 Software Development Engineer Interns (“L1 Interns”) are project-contributing interns who actively work on the company’s Skill Assessment & Internship Management Platform.
They function as part of the core engineering team, collaborating with Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and SMEs across Frontend, Backend, QA, and DevOps. L1 Interns follow Agile software development practices and are expected to contribute to real product development.
This role is remote-first, outcome-driven, and focused on continuous learning and delivery.
2. Engagement & Compensation
L1 Interns are mostly paid interns.
Compensation, where applicable, is:
Fixed at the time of offer
Subject to ongoing performance, contribution, and adherence to company policies
Any incentives, revisions, or continuations are at the sole discretion of the company.
Compensation is not an entitlement and may be reviewed, revised, or discontinued based on performance, conduct, or organizational needs.
3. Work Schedule & Availability
3.1 Working Hours
Standard Working Window: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (IST Flexible)
Work Days: Monday to Friday
Breaks: Flexible, as long as delivery and collaboration are not impacted
L1 Interns must remain reasonably available during core hours for collaboration and communication.
3.2 Mandatory Meetings
Attendance is mandatory for:
Daily Stand-Up (DSU)
Sprint Planning
Refinement / Grooming
Sprint Review / Demo
Retrospective
Any project-critical or escalation meetings
Failure to attend without prior communication may impact performance evaluation.
4. Work Expectations
4.1 Ownership & Execution
L1 Interns are expected to:
Take ownership of assigned tasks
Plan daily goals and execution
Work independently while seeking guidance when required
Deliver measurable progress on a regular basis
4.2 Communication & Updates
Interns must:
Share daily updates on work completed, plans, and blockers
Communicate delays or risks proactively
Be responsive on official communication channels during working hours
5. Time Tracking & Reporting
5.1 Timesheet Maintenance
L1 Interns must maintain a daily timesheet using the company-provided format or tool.
5.2 Work Categorization
All logged hours must be categorized under one of the following:
Development
SDLC Activities (analysis, design, testing, documentation, reviews)
Mentor Support (KT sessions, pair programming, reviews)
LMS / Platform Contribution
Timesheets must accurately represent actual work performed.
6. Performance & Evaluation
Performance is assessed on:
Quality and consistency of contribution
Learning curve and adaptability
Collaboration and communication
Accountability and reliability
Adherence to timelines and processes
Performance outcomes may influence:
Continuation of engagement
Incentives or compensation
Role responsibilities
Future opportunities with the company
7. Learning & Growth Expectations
L1 Interns are expected to:
Be self-motivated learners
Actively participate in reviews, discussions, and retrospectives
Apply feedback and improve continuously
Follow coding standards, documentation practices, and engineering guidelines
8. Remote Work Environment Requirements
As a remote role, interns are responsible for maintaining a suitable work environment.
8.1 Infrastructure
Stable and reliable internet connectivity
Personal laptop capable of handling development workloads
Backup arrangements for connectivity or power are recommended
The company does not currently provide work devices or internet reimbursement.
8.2 Work Environment
Quiet, distraction-free workspace
Ability to attend meetings without interruptions
Professional conduct during calls and collaboration sessions
9. Security, Access & Confidentiality
System access is role-based and monitored
Credentials are strictly personal and must not be shared
All work artifacts (code, documents, designs) are company property
Any breach of confidentiality or misuse of access may result in immediate disengagement
